We are continually improving the user experience for everyone, and applying the relevant accessibility standards.

## Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

**This site is conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA** and **partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AAA**. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the AAA accessibility standard.

### Specific exceptions to WCAG 2.2 level AA compliance

* Third party frameworks used to build this app - e.g. Nuxt - may contain some minor accessibility issues which are not editable by Morph. This includes, for instance, CSS loading animations the duration of which has been to set to longer than 5 seconds. We have attempted to ensure that these exceptions do not impact negatively on user experience.

## Accessibility Features

- All page content can be navigated using keyboard only
- Skip to main content link available on all pages
- ARIA labels and landmarks for screen reader users
- Semantic HTML structure throughout
- Sufficient color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
- Respects user preferences for reduced motion
- Form labels and error messages clearly associated with inputs
- Video content includes transcripts
- Focus indicators are visible on all interactive elements

## Design Decisions

**Focus Indicators:** We rely on browser default focus indicators rather than custom styling. This approach ensures focus is always visible on all interactive elements and allows user-applied customisation through system-wide assistive technology to work as expected without interference.

**Keyboard Navigation:** When using in-page content links with the keyboard, focus is applied to the target content for screen readers and keyboard users. The page does not auto-scroll to prevent disorientation, allowing users to control their scrolling experience.

## Technical Specifications

This website's accessibility relies on the following technologies:

- HTML5
- CSS3
- JavaScript
- ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications)

The website is designed to be compatible with assistive technologies including screen readers.

## Testing

This website has been tested for accessibility using:

- Keyboard-only navigation
- Multiple screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver)
- Automated testing tools
- Manual testing against WCAG 2.2 Level AA and AAA criteria

We have made every effort to ensure that all content is accessible, although we are aware of minor inconsistencies in how some screen readers handle complex features such as video transcripts.

When navigating inside a page using the keyboard, the page content links do not scroll to the target content. However, focus is applied to the target content so screen readers will be directed to the appropriate content.

## Limitations (Level AAA Only)

**Focus Appearance (WCAG 2.4.13 - Level AAA):** While all focus indicators are visible (meeting Level AA requirements), browser default focus indicators may not consistently meet the enhanced AAA requirements for focus appearance (minimum 2px thickness and 3:1 contrast ratio) across all browsers and contexts.

**Target Size (WCAG 2.5.5 - Level AAA):** Some interactive elements such as checkboxes, do not meet the enhanced AAA requirement of 44px × 44px minimum target size. All interactive elements meet the Level AA requirements for basic usability and are appropriately spaced to minimize accidental activation.

## Feedback

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this website. If you experience any difficulty accessing content or have suggestions for improvement, please contact us at admin@morph.co.uk.

## Assessment Information

- **Evaluation method:** Self-assessment
- **Statement last reviewed:** February 2026
- **WCAG version:** 2.2
- **Conformance level:** Level AA (conformant), Level AAA (partially conformant)
Conformance status","/pages/accessibility.en
pages/accessibility.en","lN_Wq4tD-qnnILIsxDPdw2Mj2TUJeuX9BG52ovoHk28
"contentPages/pages/contact.en.json
"A brand new page
201,209
"Contact Us","# Contact Us","Do you have any questions about the SORTED study?
"sorted-header-images 10@2x.png
"## Contact details

* SORTED Study
 Kadoorie Centre
 Level 3, John Radcliffe Hospital
 Oxford OX3 9DU
* 01865 227912
* sorted@ndorms.ox.ac.uk
"sorted-study-content-image 17@2x.png","/pages/contact.en
pages/contact.en","oTaVkoocdW4W1_2YgMIOJ6aK8p8bCv2ylaLzsDmk8rM
"contentPages/pages/cookie-policy.en.json","Cookie Policy
[224,229,233
"# Cookie Policy
"sorted-header-images 6@2x.png
"## Website Cookies

Our website uses necessary and non-necessary cookies. using physiotherapy alone, or by having keyhole surgery followed by physiotherapy.

Both treatments are used in the UK, but it’s not clear which works best for young people.

Physiotherapy involves an appointment to provide advice on specific exercises to help stabilise the shoulder.

Surgery involves a keyhole operation to help fix any damaged tissue inside the shoulder.

Most people have a general anaesthetic and go home the same day.

After surgery an appointment will be made with a physiotherapist to advise on specific exercises to help to stabilise the shoulder.

Surgery may reduce the chance of another dislocation in the future.

However, there is usually a waiting time meaning people start their recovery later and all surgery carries some risks, such as infection.

Physiotherapy avoids these risks and people can start their recovery sooner.

However, if the shoulder dislocates again, surgery may still be needed.

The aim of the SORTED study is to find out which treatment is best.

Around 270 people from over 20 NHS hospitals will take part.

Half will receive physiotherapy alone, and half will receive surgery followed by physiotherapy.

A process called randomisation will be used to decide which treatment participants receive.

This means each person has an equal chance of being placed in either group, to make a fair comparison.

To understand how well participants recover, they will be asked how their shoulder feels and if they have returned to their usual activities.

They will also be asked if they have experienced any complications, such as the shoulder dislocating again.

These questions will be asked on five occasions, at regular intervals up to 15 months after joining.

The questions will take about 15 minutes to complete.

Answers can be entered onto a secure website, written in a booklet that is sent through the post or completed over the phone.

It is very important to receive answers from everyone, because missing answers, will affect the quality of the results.

Five years after joining, we will check NHS records to see if anyone has had another shoulder dislocation or needed any other treatments.

At the end of the study, everybody’s answers will be combined to find out which treatment is best for young people.

For more information, please visit the study website or contact the SORTED team.
"stacked","full-width","## SORTED Explainer animation
"Background
"The shoulder is the most frequently dislocated joint in the body, particularly among young adults.

Following a first-time traumatic shoulder dislocation, patients are typically managed using one of the below treatment pathways:

* Physiotherapy
* A keyhole operation (surgery) alongside physiotherapy

Both these pathways are currently used in the National Health Service (NHS), but it is not currently known which works best for this injury.

This is why the SORTED study is important.
"sorted-study-content-image 10@2x.png","## Background
"EXPLAIN Animations
[321,330,338
"card_modal_video","What is consent?
"1136165285?h=d5790bcc38","Transcript for What is consent?
"sorted-card-image-what-is-consent@2x.png",470
"Who decides what treatment I get?
"1136165598?h=8b15b2c1e1","Who decides what treatment I get?
